December/January

Caroline Adams, HTS Communications Liaison

In December, the Honey Tree crew was gearing up for the holidays and hosted the Christmas party at the farm! Food and fun was enjoyed by all with everyone bringing a dish or two for everyone to enjoy. Sarah and the Honey Tree team were surprised with a new microwave AND a Keurig coffee machine to make chilly winter days in the barn more comfortable!

Excitement continued into late January when we were pleased to welcome home a new stallion prospect! SS Princeton ("Prince") is a 2015 Palomino colt out of the Perlino stallion Sagar. This young colt looks to be getting his dad's height AND his good looks!

In early January, we hosted a clinic with USEF 'R' Judge Laurie Storey. The clinic was especially helpful for our IEA riders who were preparing for their horse shows! Laurie was an excellent clinician and we are so glad we were able to host her at the farm. We look forward to having her again!

We would also like to congratulate our IEA team on a phenomenal inaugural season! Our girls really showed their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the 2015-2016 season. We are excited to announce that we will be sending four riders to Regionals in March!

And finally, February means the start of Jammin' Jumpers! Join us February 13th to kick off the season in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! As always, we have some special events planned for this Valentine's Day themed event!

November 2015

November has been yet another busy month at Honey Tree Stables! First and foremost, we have had a huge influx of new customers! We are so thankful and happy to have so many new faces around the farm—both human and horse!

November started out with the celebration of our annual Fall Festival which took place over two days this year. A lot of work goes into putting on a two-day horse show and we must say, the festival this year was a hit! We are eternally grateful to all of our competitors and our barn volunteers that help us make the event possible!

We followed up the Fall Festival with a successful week at Roberts Arena for Country Heir Midwest Indoors. We extend congratulations to Isabel Berglund and Mint Julip for their Reserve Champion placing in the Schooling Jumpers as well as to Rachel McKinney and One Last Laugh for their 3rd place finish in the Children’s Hunter Classic! As always, all of our horse and rider teams rode wonderfully!

To celebrate Thanksgiving, Sarah and some HTS clients took their talents to a fox hunt with the Camargo Hunt in Indian Hill. Sarah and her trusty steed Murphy were accompanied by Isabel Berglund and Mint Julip, Della Wilz and Honey Tree’s Ishmael, Tatum Pencek and Skye, and Rachel McKinney on Honey Tree’s Some Kinda Cowboy. The group had an awesome day and were able to really work up their Thanksgiving appetites!

Our IEA team is also gearing up for a horse show at Stonegate Stables the first weekend of December. We know our team will ride their best and bring home some glory to Honey Tree!

Look out for information about our charity run which has been postponed to spring due to the lovely wet weather we’ve been having. Join us for a 5k trail run through the beautiful scenery on our farm and benefit our IEA team as well as the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati!

October 2015

October always seems like a busy month around the barn. School-aged students are getting back into the swing of early school mornings and homework filled afternoons, while our barn parents are trying to manage these horse crazy kids and maybe trying to get some saddle time of their own in. This October proved to be no different with many Honey Tree Stables' clients and supporter's jumping head first into the 75th Annual Camargo Hunter Trials and Tailgate Competition at Clippinger Field. This year, the team went all out. Boasting three ringside tailgating spots, Honey Tree Stables teamed up with Cincinnati area businesses RM Interiors, Matty's Smokehouse, and Hart & Cru to put on the part of the year! The efforts of all parties paid off in the end with a 1st Place finish in the tailgating competition for Best Bar, Best Party, and Best Main Dish!

October didn't slow down from there, the following weekend, Honey Tree hosted a great "Jump Into Autumn" event that included both outdoor paces, chases, and derbies as well as indoor equitation and jumper challenges. Clients and community members alike brought their A-game and proved that even though the season was starting to pick up, they still meant business while they were in the ring.

We also took a minute to step back and thank our barn moms for all of their hard work toting kids back and forth to lessons, packing snacks for horse shows, and getting up with us on all of those (still dark) horse show mornings. We hosted a Mom's Ride where no kids were allowed! Moms could enjoy a lesson on some of our awesome lesson horses, mingle with one another, and enjoy dinner and wine in the barn...all while the kids had to stay at home! This was a blast and we have to say, we can tell where our students get their talents from! This is an event that we look forward to hosting again in the future.

We're still in full swing finishing the final touches for our two day Fall Festival taking place on November 7th and 8th. There's no rest to be had and we wouldn't have it any other way!
